Visiting The Emergency Room

Emergency rooms are set up and open 24 hours to handle all types of medical emergencies. They are not there for normal routine health care and if a person goes to the emergency room for something basic and not a true emergency there are many negative consequences.

First it is going to cost a lot more money to go to the emergency room than a physician’s office or finding an open walk in clinic. Some visits to the emergency room are four to five times higher than a regular office visit. The time spent waiting in an emergency room is going to be 3 to 4 times longer than a walk in clinic or doctor’s office and people with life threatening emergencies are going to be seen ahead of you. You will more than likely be seen by a doctor who you know little or nothing about and it is usually much better to see a doctor who knows you and your medical history.

When contemplating visiting the emergency room, stop and think. Is this really a medical emergency? More info: emergency room McKinney
